When you plan out full units in advance, it makes it so much easier to fit in everything you want (and need) to cover. You can portion the homework pretty equally, hit all your priorities, and keep students engaged with variety while also keeping consistent routines where you want them.
Pre-planning is the way to go, but it’s easy to get stuck in one late-night dash after another just to make a plan for the next day. In this episode, I’m sharing the simple system I came up with in my first year of teaching when my school required me to publish a unit plan to my students as we began each unit. It has served me well ever since, and I think it will make your life much easier too!
